............WHY WE WORSHIP
The Bible teaches us that worship is a vital part of following Jesus Christ. Put simply: God likes it and demands it. And the manner in which we should worship the Creator God is clearly outlined throughout scripture. (Deuteronomy 12:5-7; Psalm 100:4; Jeremiah 7:1-11; Matthew 17:5-6).
God is very serious when it comes to our worship of Him. Rogers Christian Church is very serious about what God is serious about. Our Purpose Statement is: Loving God...Loving Others through promoting a lifestyle of worship. .
We believe that worship is more than the Sunday morning service. It is a lifestyle. It is our goal to impact and transform that lifestyle towards maturity in Christ. (Hebrews 5:14-6:1)
....EXPECTATIONS FOR THOSE
SERVING IN THE WORSHIP TEAM
Godly character in team members - Your lifestyle needs to exemplify submission to the authority of Christ. We are looking for leaders that wholeheartedly pursue God.
Understanding your commitment level - This includes making your role in the worship ministry a priority. This is demonstrated in coming to rehearsals, worship services, and performances on time.
Understanding worship as a relationship with God - Your relationship with the Lord is central to you as a worshipper and a worship leader.
Church attendance and involvement in a small group or another accountability group - Attendance at RCC is expected even when you are not on stage. Commitment to the overall vision and values of RCC is essential. And that commitment is demonstrated by your presence. Actions speak louder than words.
Musical Skill - Vocalists must be able to stay on pitch, harmonize and sing prepared parts. Worship musicians must be able to read music, and/or ply by ear, play from a chord chart and keep rhythm.
A willingness to learn and grow as a worship leader - A willingness to be more than a singer or musician. This includes song leading, speaking to the congregation, leading a devotion, directing a rehearsal. Developing these skills will aid you in becoming an effective leader.
A willingness to follow and serve under the Worship Minister's and Worship Planning Team's initiative. Take direction with a humble heart and submit to the wishes of the worship minister and Worship Planning Team. A servant's heart is the key issue.
